Learning & Professional Development
With recognised expertise in trauma services, another key focus for Foundation House is the provision of professional development to support individuals and organisations in commuity, education and health services working with people from a refugee background.
The professional development aims to help these organisations and practitioners respond to the unique needs of survivors of organised violence. All of our professional development is facilitated by practitioners working with torture and trauma survivors ensuring their knowledge and experience is current and relevant.

Organisation Specific Workshop Requests
Foundation House also provides more substantial (half day or more) professional development workshops for agencies working with people from refugee backgrounds, subject to lead time and capacity.
In developing the content for these workshops Foundation House works closely with organisations to identify the learning needs of the staff and specifically tailor Foundation House training materials to these needs. Adopting an organisation development model we will discuss with you the best structure for workshops. In some cases we may recommend professional development be followed up by a practice seminar to facilitate staff reflection on implementing new approaches learnt in training.
Organisation Specific Workshops are planned on a semester basis, new requests for Semester 1, 2013 need to by submitted by 30 November, 2012.
