Training

With recognised expertise in trauma services, the provision of training and support to individuals and organisations involved in community service delivery to refugees is another key focus of Foundation House. While settling in a new country, survivors of torture may seek assistance from health and social workers as well as teachers and others in the community. Foundation House training programs assist workers such as these to respond, especially if they have limited experience in meeting the unique needs of survivors of organised violence.

Foundation House regularly holds training and information sessions for a range of professionals, including health and welfare workers and teachers, from both its Brunswick and Dandenong locations. Outreach and custom-designed training is also available by arrangement. Modules and training sessions cover a wide range of topics, reflecting the emerging professional development needs and concerns of workers.
