Board Chair expresses gratitude at AGM
At the Foundation House Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on November 24, Board Chair Lynne Haultain, expressed gratitude to the Foundation House team for “the daily effort in advancing the health, wellbeing and human rights of people from refugee backgrounds.” In her address to members attending the meeting, Lynne also acknowledged the thousands of clients who come to Foundation House each year and “teach us all so much”.
CEO, Paris Aristotle AM, reported to the meeting on the year’s work with survivors of torture and told members that “a high priority of our advocacy work continues to be amelioration of the treatment of asylum seekers who have arrived without visas and who are in the Australian community, in immigration detention or in Nauru and Papua New Guinea”.
In the AGM’s formal proceedings, Helen Casey and Richard Home were both re-elected to the Board of Management for three year terms. New member Matt Ervin was elected to the Board for a three year period and at the meeting after the AGM the Board confirmed the position of Travers McLeod and elected him to a three year casual vacancy.
