Foundation House is committed to providing the best possible support for refugees and asylum seekers who have experienced torture and trauma prior to their arrival in Australia. We aim to help our clients recover from past abuses and build new lives in safety and with dignity.

We develop, deliver and continually review our programs and services to ensure their ongoing effectiveness, cultural appropriateness and capacity to meet the needs of refugees, their families and communities. The full range of our programs, services and resources are outlined on this site.

While the challenge to eliminate the use of torture is an enormous one, we play our part by supporting and advocating for survivors and their families. We draw on what we learn from clients to inform governments and the wider community about the prevalence of such atrocities and the human consequences they generate. Our work with survivors strongly reinforces why the total prohibition against all forms of torture and other cruel, inhumane and degrading treatment must be upheld internationally by all governments.

We hope you find this site informative and that you will consider supporting Foundation House in its endeavours.

THE EDUCATION NEEDS OF YOUNG REFUGEES IN VICTORIA

This document aims to support the development of a government policy position to improve existing levels of support for the well-being and educational achievement of students from refugee backgrounds. It was developed by the Refugee Education Partnership Project, a collaboration between government and non-government organisations, managed by Foundation House.
