Our Staff Team
The staff team at Foundation House is a key element in its capacity to provide services of the highest sensitivity and quality. The staff team forms a base of expertise that is also drawn upon by a range of organisations both nationally and internationally through consultation, training and published resources.
When Foundation House was established in 1987, few similar services for survivors of torture existed, so building a skilled staff team in a specialised field was a primary goal. Throughout its history Foundation House has continued to invest in the training and professional development of its staff team and as a result benefits from a remarkable pool of talent and a very low staff turnover. With a range of professional backgrounds and a strong commitment to human rights and social justice, the staff team at Foundation House is at the core of its success.
The Direct Services arm of the organisation is structured into four teams that provide counselling, advocacy and early intervention services to refugee survivors of torture and trauma. The Service Innovation Program team seeks to develop new ways forward in work with refugees, their families, their communities and the service providers and systems supporting them. The Health Sector Development team undertakes work in the areas of health promotion, rural and regional service development and professional development and training programs. The work of the Policy and Research Program completes the nexus of direct service provision, innovation, research and policy development. Meanwhile, the Agency Operations team manages the overall administration and day to day operations of Foundation House. Click here to see an organisational chart.
